ISBN Database

The ISBN Database contains important information about unique books.  The uniqueness is defined as having an ISBN that no other book shares.  For a given ISBN, there is just a single ISBN Record in your database.  Multiple books share this unique record. Book Inventory Database. All of your books, both new and used, reference this record to extract fixed information such as Book Author, Book Title, Retail Price, etc.

Until the introduction of BookAccents, the most expensive item required to implement a computerized book selling system was purchasing a subscription to a ISBN Database.  It doesn't make sense to purchase a database, because within about 60 days, it is completely obsolete.

Once we decided to open our book store, we started research book selling software.  Everything was quite expensive because of the requirement to pay licensing fees for the necessary ISBN Database.  We therefore decided  to implement our own software.  There are many techniques available to extract vital book information once the ISBN number is known from various locations on the Internet.

When you license BookAccents, we furnish you with a localized ISBN Database in the form of a computer file on your local computer.  This contains the ISBN Numbers of all the books we have processed to that date.  If the ISBN number you are looking for doesn't exist locally, your BookAccents Software contacts our Internet Database Server, requesting information for that ISBN Number.  Our server then searches the Internet, and returns the information needed, and adds that information to the BookAccents main ISBN Database.

The BookAccents ISBN Database is downloaded periodically to your local database, thus constantly updating the information you have locally.  although the task of contacting our Internet Server is fast, it is much more efficient to have the data locally available, that is why we send you updates.
