Shown above are two examples of Disabled Elements (Left Side) and Enabled Elements (Right Side). The Disabled Elements are displayed in Gray, the Enabled in Black.
We do this so that you know whether or not the various information may be Modified (On this screen, at this time).
Please consider the fields Retail and Selling (price). On the left, they are both shown in gray. No matter how hard you try, you cannot modify either while in this state (disabled). On the right, both of these Screen Elements are Shown in Black, indicating they can be changed. The act of clicking the Edit/Update button changes the state of these screen elements, allowing modification.
