Your software will be delivered to you written to a CD. All of the program and database files required to begin using BookAccents is contained on this CD. See Installation - CD Contents

Please understand that specializing your hardware and software may become very complicated. Under the basic agreement we cannot act as your computer or network consultant, nor can we provide extensive training. You should seek local assistance or make arrangement for additional levels of support from us.
The prerequisites for Installation:
The computer on which you will be using BookAccents should have a clean copy of Windows XP Professional completely installed and operational.
Your LAN (if applicable) must be installed and fully operational.
You must also have successfully installed you Internet software and connection.
The 100% compatible receipt printer must be installed, and operational form all computer wishing to print to it.
Any
computer nodes that will use BookAccents
(except back-office functions) must
have a bar-code scanner attached and fully configured Scanner
Setup , and a Zebra printer must be accessible either directly or
via a LAN connection.
You only need one Zebra and receipt printer. These can be shared between more that one computer. The setup for this, however, is not part of the your basic setup. You should contract with a local networking consultant, or we will provide help on a time and materials basis.
You must have a configured LAN Adapter in each computer on which you will use BookAccents regardless of whether it is or not attached to a network.
Important Note: Be aware that the existence of other third party software on your computer may negatively affect the installability and performance of BookAccents.
If you use your computers as toys, be watchful of viruses and Spyware programs which can be inadvertently loaded while surfing the Web.
Programs are available to find and eliminate these problems.
We have found that Spyware programs can act as parasites when using your Internet connection to process ISBNs... causing all types of havoc.
When you purchase your hardware with the Windows XP Pro Operation System pre-loaded by the manufacturer, there may be elements installed in the Operating System making it non-standard, and possibly incompatible with some features of BookAccents.
BookAccents makes extensive use of the Windows Registry. We have found that some preloaded operating systems (Dell for one) have difficulty performing Cash Register Disk Image Receipts setup.

In a typical Single User Installation, all of the Database Files are normally placed in the "Program Files/BookAccents directory, and are referenced /assigned using the Setup Program.
You are not allowed to configure these files except on your PC's local drive!

In a typical Multi-User Installation, the Database Files are spread out across the network at the users whim. The Database files, highlighted in Cyan, are placed on the designated server. Be sure to have just a single copy of these files referenced by all BookAccents PCs.
The Database File, highlighted in Yellow is normally placed in Program Files/BookAccents directory of the local computer. Be careful that each computer has its on copy of this file. |

You may want to copy the two file in the "Utilities" folder of your distribution CD to a hard disk area of your choice. These files will be vital should you need to rebuild your Database.
