BookAccents LAN

BookAccents has been specifically developed and extensively tested for multi-user environments.

Currently BookAccents is written as a Peer-to-Peer system using Microsoft XP Professional Computer as Workstations.  You may also install your Database files on an NT2000, or Later Dedicated Server.  A Client/Server version is planned when sufficient demand is experienced.

Multi-user licensing is required to install BookAccents on any Multi-user Network.

When configuring BookAccents to execute on a LAN, placement of the shared files is critical.  Under light loads, the shared files may installed on one of the Networked Computers.  Under a heavy load, we highly recommend that a dedicated server be deployed.

Please Note:  The task resulting in a heavy load are generally your reporting and look-up functions.  Generally speaking, the entire database is searched during these operations, so traffic across the LAN is quite high.  Therefore the computer on which the databases are placed will have a high level of utilization.

Current Requirements:

  1. Each computer should have Microsoft Windows XP Professional Loaded.

  2. Each computer using BookAccents Must Have a configured LAN Adapter regardless of whether the computer is connected to a LAN or not.

  3. Network computers should be connected via (at least) 100 MIPS LAN.

  4. Pentium-IV or equivalent computers are recommended.
