As you develop your book and sales information database, backing up soon becomes a critical part of your business. The data contained within these computer files will be very expensive to recreate should it be lost and not "backed up".
Reason for loss of data include: theft of computer, vandalism, sabotage, power failures, static discharges, lightning strikes, and other miscellaneous computer failures.
Having the files backed up on tape, CD or other REMOVABLE Media allows you to easily re-establish the software environment to the point it was at the time of backup.
It is highly recommended that you have a realistic backup strategy. We use software that automatically backs up all of the information necessary to re-establish our business every night to a CD.
Over the years, we have tried many backup products. Right now, our first choice for burning backups automatically to CDs is Nero. See http://www.nero.com/us/nero6.html
You must backup at least the following folder and sub-folders daily. It is advisable that these be stored off site on a regular basis.
